how do you guys manage after a heavy eating day (more than allowed calories)?

just wondering because i had that day happen to me yesterday. I ate 1500 cal between breakfast/lunch, went on a 5 mile walk/run, came back, and thought to myself: "i'm not hungry!"

i ate anyways, and that meal was a lot, like 1000 cal. i just couldn't stop myself, and i think it's because i worked out and i have a tendency to eat after working out...

today i just don't feel great about what i did yesterday. how do you all compensate for incidents like these?
