I wanna loose 100 lbs to join the marines [Day 01]

Hi reddit! I'm relatively new to this site so bare with me. I'm a 290 lb 24 year old male. I want to loose 100 lbs so I can join the Marine Corps. I know it's gonna be very difficult but I want to be like my grandfather who was a marine in the Korean war. Before my diet I used to eat lots of carbs and other bad stuff. Bread, cheeses, processed meats, chips, typical snack foods.

I'm trying to control my portions now. I'm only gonna eat non processed foods. Excersize wise I plan on walking 2 miles a day. If you have any tips please tell me.

I had a few questions though.

Is it ok to loose more than 2 lbs a week?

Daily weigh ins or weekly?

More exercise than what I mentioned?

Thanks
