Newbie - I'm down a size in pants, is it too soon to celebrate?

I've been logging my calories and walking more for about 60 days now. I've noticed most of my clothes are fitting looser and I had to add a hole in my belt. Even family have commented that I seem a bit slimmer.

But I'm worried about getting too excited. What if I can't keep it up? Where I live, winter drops to -20 C, making it hard to keep walking to school. I'm also not always perfect with food - occassionally I go over, mistrack, or eat out with friends.

I know I have the evidence right before my eyes that what I'm doing is working, but I'm just scared. I've wanted this for so long! It's finally working and I feel like I have control over my life.

I just needed to vent all this, so thanks for listening. My friends are against calorie restriction, so I haven't told anyone except my mom about my diet.
