Is being over 40 make it harder to get results with CICO?

I’m a 42F who is starting on another journey to lose weight. I’m 190 lb and 5’7”.

I’ve lost the weight before but 8-9 years ago i fell into depression, had surgery, gained 15 lbs, and have been gaining weight ever since. Ive been afraid of losing weight knowing studies suggest you just gain it back plus more.

I’ve been lifting for the majority of the time in my 30s and 40s, but have eaten more than output. I know i have emotional eating issues.

Frankly, I’m afraid to lower my calories and lose muscle or gain more weight.

I’m just curious how low to go for calories and will i be able to lose the weight now that I’m in my 40s?
