Calories are Fuel, and Muscles are the Engine

As someone who put on 100lbs from depression in 18 months as an intermediate lifter, I'll tell you what. I can just maintain my base muscle while I lose fat (down 40lbs (10lbs per month)).

6'1" M SW 294lbs CW 258lbs GW 205lbs

To all the beginner lifters here (especially the women) please use God's gift to novices of losing fat / gaining muscle simultaneously. Cardio is great, diet is best, but increasing your overall BMR is really really helpful.

Putting in cardio is trading work for calories. Adding muscle is like passive income!
