Need the incentive to get back on track?

I have lost some weight during the first half of 2020 and decided to give myself a break this winter. I have been on maintenance since early November and find myself extremely reluctant to get back into a caloric deficit.

In the past two months, I stopped weighing my food and didn't track every single morsel. I do have a rough sense of how much I was eating. I was able to eat at maintenance for the most part and allowed myself to indulge a little bit over the holidays without feeling overly guilty about it.

It's ... all wholesome, except that I still have 8 more pounds to lose to safely place myself inside the healthy BMI range.

I don't want to put my goals on hold indefinitely yet I really dread that such freedom and comfort around food will be taken away from me should I decide to start tracking everything religiously again... On the other hand the fear of gaining it all back is always there. I'm probably just finding excuses for myself. I know the new year is a perfect time to get myself back on track.

DAE feel the same way? Should I give myself some more time or should I get out of my comfort zone now?
