Is there a bias between men and women losing weight that I have never realized?

The wife and I have started to lose some weight the past 6 months. both were slightly overweight and I would consider us skinny fat at this point.

Between friends and family we have gotten several of the exact same references to our compositions.

Her: oh you look fantastic slimmer. And that's the end of discussion.

Me: That's great you're not obese now. When are you going to start putting on muscle mass? Are you going to start going to the gym more? You don't want to get too small.

Nobody ever asks her if she is going to get or muscular or go to the gym more. Nobody ever references how weak she is. Ect.
