Post-vacation tips?

Hello! This is in reference to my previous ask. I have been enjoying myself so far (though today I went a little over-budget—surprisingly far less than expected, only ~75 over! Most of it came from potatoes, which I haven’t indulged in for a long time. I don’t even feel nauseously full, just comfortable, thank goodness.) Thank you all for your previous replies :)

A few questions for when I get back from my trip:

1) Should I just go back to what I normally eat immediately, or create a deeper deficit for a few days before returning to normal?

2) I know the scale’s going to tell a bit more than usual due to water weight and the temporary such—so let’s avoid the brief grief, shall we? How long should I stay away from the scale before weighing in?

3) Any good “post-vacation fat-loss” food you’d recommend?

Thank you all so much again! ^

How fundamental is cardio to weight loss?

So I’m 117kg and have started strict dieting and going to the gym with a personal trainer, today I asked him wether he will make me do cardio or strength training exercises and he told me we will only be doing strength training exercises/building muscle and that weight loss is sufficient through being in a calorie deficit. Now I do agree with him and it’s widely known that CICO is what matters most to weight loss, but should I add cardio to the mix? I currently go to the gym 3 times a week with a personal trainer, should I go to the gym the other 3 days to do cardio alone?

Weighing lighter later on in the day???

How long does it take for fat to burn? I weighed myself first thing this morning, ate breakfast, then took a 1 hour brisk walk. I weighted myself about 5 hours after my first weigh in out of curiosity and it was .6 lbs lighter (same clothing). I know it’s not a lot but I drank lots of water, had coffee, and a sandwich. I also did not go to the bathroom. Now I’m wondering if I should update my weight on loseit for today lol. Can exercise affect weight that quickly?!

Weight gain after Covid

At the peak of 2020, I went on a fad diet during my time quarantining at home. My lifestyle consisted heavily of being on a calorie deficit and intense workouts, to the point that I’d lost a lot of weight as a result. However, my body could not function properly under that range so I had to revert back to a more healthy eating/exceeding habit. I ended up gaining all of it back and even more than what I’d started out with. Throughout the course of summer to the end of autumn, I worked on losing that extra weight, trying to find myself at a healthier, normal range. My weight loss was gradual; after my horrendous experience with crash diets, I made sure to adequately fuel my body. I’ve lost seven pounds in total, being able to maintain it for about two months or so. That being said, when I contracted Covid around Christmas of this year, my weight fluctuated greatly. Initially I lost two more pounds but when I revert back to my regular diet (which isn’t calorie dense, and nutritious to being with), I ended up gaining back three more pounds in less than a month. Currently, I’m at a weight that is higher than my weight before being sick.

Can anyone tell me what possible reasons could occur that could result in a rapid weight gain? I mean, I generally don’t snack, always hit 10k steps a day, AND generally do 30 min of workout per day. Plus, I only limit myself to one cheat day per week.

I seriously am not looking forward to put effort in losing weight again, especially after all the hard work I’ve done. Since I refuse to lower my calorie intake I made sure to move around more to burn off what I ate. But, as a women, I found that it was too stressful for my body and my period stopped due to this action.

Has a similar situation ever happen to anyone? If so, how did you deal with this?

(19F, 480+lbs) What caused my dramatic regain?

Hey everyone. So not too long ago I lost over 50lbs, I don't know the accurate weights, but I think I went from over 450lbs to under 400. In less than a year, I've slingshotted back and regained all the weight and more. I'm now in the high 400lb range.

As far as I can tell, I've been maintaining my weight loss plan. Eating much lower calories and being a lot more physically active despite my poor mobility. It worked extremely well for a while, and I've definitely been doing the same stuff.

What could have caused this? Some people have suggested seeing an endocrinologist, or maybe getting a diagnosis for a thyroid problem?

I really thought I was making progress and then I've slingshotted back and ended up at my highest and most debilitating weight yet. Feeling a little depressed about it all as you might imagine.

Losing weight with thyroid disease

I (25F) am desperately trying to lose weight! I’m currently 229lbs and my goal is 160lbs. I gained 80lbs in the last five years. I was diagnosed with both Graves’ disease and Hashimotos disease at age 20 and also got in a long term relationship which I’m sure contributed to some weight gain as well. I’m a very picky eater and don’t even like most unhealthy foods so I eat pretty decent. I just never have any energy. Any tips for losing weight with thyroid disease?
