I'm joining in

I'm 31f, current weight is 13 stone 2 (184 lbs) and 5 foot 5. My goal weight is 10 stone (140 lbs)

I previously weighed just over 200lbs in 2017 and managed to reach (and exceed my goal weight) in 2018. Then lockdown happened, now I wfh full time and I don't exercise. I ate through boredom and depression.

Now I'm at this weight. Last time what helped was a forum or a community to share my progress with. I'm opting for a CICO with IF.

Best of luck everyone - I'm off to take some before pics!

60 Minutes Segment on Wegovy

Anyone else saw tonight's 60 Minutes segment on Wegovy? Thoughts (about the segment, not about the drug - I know there have been other discussions on this sub about Wegovy/Ozempic)?

I personally felt like the segment came across like an ad, especially given this is new year resolution season. Although to be fair, they acknowledged that the manufacturer of Wegovy is an advertiser on CBS. The people they interviewed definitely sang the praises of the drug, and said side effects were minimal. But I would have found it more balanced if they interviewed at least one person who lost weight and maintained without pharmaceuticals -- they sort of went off the starting assumption that it's impossible to lose weight by any other means.

How often do you weigh yourself after you reach your goal weight?

When I was losing weight, I would weigh myself every Monday morning and track my progress. I'm 5'10, M/23. My SW was 245 and I'm down to 175 now. My GW is 170, which is probably another month within reach.

But now that I reach my goal weight, I'm wondering if there's any benefits to still weigh myself weekly? I enjoy working out every other day and have logged my food daily since it helps me feel in control of my eating habits. But, to continue to weigh myself weekly seems kinda obsessive. I was thinking of biweekly or even monthly, especially seeing how weight tends to fluctuate week to week with one big meal. As long as I'm between 170-180lbs, I'm honestly fine, and I feel like a monthly weigh in would help me set nutrition goals if I ever fall under/over that vs a weekly weigh in which may be the result of a new years meal and constipation.

Last stretch is looking like a drag. Any suggestions?

So this year I lost 30lbs. I went from 165 to 133 just about. I’m 5’4 and I’m finally at a healthy BMI.

I realize the last few pounds I wanna lose are purely aesthetic, but I still wanna lose them. My goal is very loose but I want to get to 120lbs and see how I feel then.

However, it’s becoming impossible to keep up my deficit. It was so easy to keep my deficit at the start, but now that I’m smaller

A) My TDEE is nothing. So taking 500 away from that is excruciating.

B) If I do a 250 deficit instead, any extras at all will wipe my deficit out. If I have a couple glasses of wine on a date, deficit gone.

C) I’m now painfully aware of food/deficit all the time.

I had an ED 10 years ago and I’m not trying to go back to that, thank you very much. But it’s difficult to balance not becoming obsessed vs keeping this deficit going.

It’s so, so, so easy to just eat at 1800kcal a day. And I need to be at 1400-1500 at most. But god I keep wanting a little sweet or some cashew nuts or some random thing.

For those of you (specially short girls like me) who tried to lose the last 10 pounds, do you have any tips???

new years resolution be damned! I'm down 20lbs!

I am sharing because I'm proud of myself and I wanted to post about it :) Around early October, I realized that I was sick of punishing myself for being fat. I've always struggled with BED, so I was sick of the cycle of trying too hard to cut my calories and inevitably binge a week into it. I was the heaviest I've ever been at 334 lbs. I joked with a friend about having a new years resolution to lose weight when I thought, hey, why even wait for new years? I did some research to make sure that I did it right this time. No cutting calories below 1500, stay at least 500 calories under my tdee, and try to move at least a little each day. Those were my goals. No fad diets. I still eat whatever I want, just less of it. I'm happy to report that this morning I weighed in at 313.4 lbs, which means I've lost just about 20 lbs just from making small changes. I only need to lose three lbs to be back at the weight I was as a high schooler, and I'm so proud of myself. If you're thinking about starting, just do it! You'll be so happy you did. My one regret this time is waiting this long to do it right.

Advice Requested - (25M) Partner Surprised/In Disbelief Over the Scale

Hi Everyone,

I (26F) just got back on the health train and have been enjoying how it makes me feel for about 10 days now. I have been mostly focused on adding to my diet rather than taking away. For example: I make myself a big smoothie packed with spinach and other nutrient-dense foods for breakfast now, and I notice that my sugar cravings are not as intense at the end of the day. In getting back on the health train, I brought our scale out from the closet and back into our bathroom (judge me, I deserve it) to weigh myself consistently.

Yesterday morning my partner mentioned that he thinks the scale is broken because he weighed himself and it said he was 300 pounds. He is a very tall man at 6 feet and 6.5 inches tall so he carries the weight well, but part of me is not surprised at his weight. We both have developed unhealthy habits of convenience since moving in, plus he's a chef at a high-end restaurant which means that he eats lots of rich foods while working. My partner does not know how much I weigh, or my highest weight, but I told him that I carefully calibrated the scale so that it should be accurate/close to accurate. He still doubts that he weighs that much, or at least that's what he says.

This morning when I made breakfast I noticed that he didn't eat as much as he normally does, and I am afraid that he might feel self-conscious now about his weight. Without spilling all of his personal details, I know that he has family members who relished in making him feel fat and unlovable as a child/teen. He ended up losing a lot of weight before we met, but his career and personal habits have likely caused his weight to return. I do everything in my ability to show him how much I love him every day, but I am also afraid that discussing changing our habits together would push him further into his insecurities and ruin any progress he could make.

How would you suggest that we talk about this as a team? I would love for the two of us to shed some pounds together and lead healthier lives than we have now, but I also don't want to scare him off of the idea or accidentally insult him by suggesting that he lose weight with me. Thanks!

TL;DR: Partner gained weight and is in disbelief of the scale. He has a family who shamed him for years about his weight, and I want to tackle our weight(s) as a team. How do I go about this EXTRA sensitively?

I only have 100 pounds to go!

I recently recently posted about when I hit 50 pounds lost, but I hit another big milestone today I'm excited about: only 100 pounds to go! The tldr of the prior post is that I'm trying to not be overweight by my 30th birthday, about a year and a half away. Still a long ways to go, but I'm getting closer and other related goals are getting nearer as well. For example, I want to go skydiving but it seems like a common weight limit is about 230 pounds. When that was 120 pounds away, it seemed impossible but now I'm halfway there! Not the most important reason to lose weight, but hey, any reason is a reason, right?
