I exercised (almost) every day for a whole month

26F, ED survivor, been overweight my whole life. I lost 30+ lbs a couple of years ago, gained the few I lost with the ED back, and maintained for a long time. I didn't ever feel mentally healthy enough to go on a weight loss journey again, especially because the one where I lost 30 lbs I ended up with bulimia.

I started August thinking I would get to the best shape of my life. I've improved a lot physically and mentally. I've been exercising 2-3 days a week since January but it has always been 15 minutes tops. So this time I had goals: follow challenges, keep workouts longer than 20 minutes, and improve as much as possible. And I've succeeded!

Except for the days where I wasn't doing well mentally or physically (I'm VitD deficient and haven't been using my supplements, so that shows) or I had another responsibility, I exercised for at least 10 minutes (and usually longer) every day. I'm so proud of myself! Never thought this was possible.

I've also not given into any ED urges and I've been pretty stable. The bad thoughts knock on the door after I eat but I'm able to dodge the urges quite easily. For someone who's been struggling for years, that's a really big achievement. I'm eating 2 times a day with family, trying not to eat sugar but I do a little bit if I feel the need to, and it's like an accidental IF since I don't eat after dinner.

Since the beginning of the month I lost 10 lbs, some of it water weight, lost 4 inches off my body, and I'm actually able to hold myself up for 10 seconds on a pull up bar AND lift my knees up to my stomach. Guys, I wasn't able to pull myself up, let alone actually hold on for 10 seconds. I was stuck on the ground. Since I was a kid. I could never play on monkey bars because I had no muscle and a lot of fat.

I'm just so proud of myself about everything I've achieved so far and I really wanted to share. I've come to learn that success doesn't come from luck or extreme work - it comes from consistency and that especially goes for our bodies. For once in my life I'm actually celebrating what my body can achieve instead of hating what it looks like, and it feels fucking amazing.

I want to share how happy I am!

I've been trying to feel confortable with my body for a very long time, which lead me to do things that are bad and unsustainable, I'm 5'1 and the last time I weighted myself which was about 6 months ago I was 158 pounds, I got tired of that and recently I started to do around 45 minutes of exercise 4-5 times a week and to watch out how many calories I'm eating and I feel amazing, my mood has improved, I can do exercises that I couldn't before, I can see changes in my body, I get less and less exhausted by doing silly things and overall my quality of life is much much better. I'm hoping to keep going. I haven't weight myself yet, because I'm more focused on feeling good than the number, I know is important, but for now I don't think it would be a good thing for me in particular.

NSV: I can’t double-chin unless I really try

(First post on this sub - you guys seem really supportive so here goes, time to stop lurking.)

Watching Netflix shows on my tablet in the peak of lockdown (March/April), I always got a little upset seeing my double chin when the screen turned black. Since the easing of lockdown in the UK, I’ve been a lot more active and haven’t had much time for watching any shows. So I didn’t notice until yesterday that the double chin is completely gone! Unless I really try, which actually physically hurts my neck, I can’t conjure it up at all!

My body likes to store the vast majority of fat around my thighs and waist - my legs and upper body were always extremely lean - so the reappearance of my jawline is by no means that much of a milestone. It was the last thing to go, so it makes sense that it’s one of the first to come back. I’ve still got a long way to go.

Regardless, I feel great. I can see my old self coming back, the version of me that actually actively wanted to be in photos and wasn’t always concerned about how other people viewed me. Last night someone took a completely candid video of me (I didn’t know until I was sent it this morning) and for the first time in a long, sad year of poor self-image, I liked the way I looked in it.

Just thought I’d share to mark my progress. If you’ve had a similar experience I’d love to hear about it :)

Struggling, probably mental!

Hey Champions!

I am a 20 year old male. I am as you might have guessed overweight, obese.

My SW was around 260-264 lbs, I am currently at 257 lbs (was at 253 for a day after losing a lot of water and doing 34k steps). My long time goal is around 187 lbs, but I would be happy if I could drop down to 220 lbs by the end of the year or by January/February. I have an office job and I go to Uni which is like the worst for my health. I do CICO (well mostly just eating less and being conscious about the serving sizes at home) and skip breakfast so intermittent fasting 16/8 I guess. I go to the gym 3 times a week, 1 day of using weights and a bit of cardio (4 miles per hour walking, 30 minutes), 1 day of only cardio (60 minutes or more), and 1 day of using weights only, but it doesn't feel like much so sometimes I go for cardio too on that day.

My problem is that I lost a lot in the first 3 weeks or so (losing water probably), and now that it slowed down it is not as motivating. Also it fluctuates, like for a day I could lose 3 pounds but gain it back in a day (I know a lot of it is water). Now I do not feel as motivated as when I started.

Am I doing something wrong? Am I right that it is not a linear journey, it's something like a stocks graph like there are some ups and downs even if it is slowly decreasing/increasing. How can I stay on the path? How fast should I lose weight?

(If everything goes well I might have a gym buddy in a few weeks and also I feel like my arms are stronger so maybe that's why I didn't lose that much?)

Sorry for this being all over the place I am bad at structuring posts and thoughts.

I lost some weight during quarantine and I don't want to stop

So I'm a 20 yo female, ever since I was 13 I've been overweight and I've tried many diets and many things but ended up stopping, usually it's around new years eve where I tell myself my new year's resolution is to lose weight, I keep it up and then I drop the resolution by the end of feburary, I tried many things, diets, calorie counting, proportion control, water fasting, but I always ended up not committing, even if I did lose some weight, ill go back to it.

So I redid that this january, and to my shock I ended up not committing, again xD but then at the mid of march our college suspended classes because of covid. I, like most people at my country ended up staying home and baking with my parents, I tried many recipes and ate too much and didn't move much. In april I started realizing that that isn't a good idea, I'm sitting all day, I should be lowering my calorie intake and not raising it, I didnt think of it as a diet or something, I just did it to not gain too much weight and it didn't bother me because I spend the day either playing video games or watching movies.

The 12th of may I put on a pair of pants and to my surprise they weren't tight around my hips anymore and they became loose around my stomach, I went and tried many of my and my mom's pants and found out that the size 12 that used to be too tight fitted perfectly and I could even fit in my mom's size 10, let me tell u that was one of the best feelings, I finally started losing weight and I was seeing it and my clothes became bigger.

So after that I decided to take this as an opportunity to keep on losing weight, I sadly didn't weight myself then because I couldn't find the scale and I didnt bother with going to buy a new one during quarantine, but I'm sure that in January I weighted over 200lbs, also from may 12th to august 23rd I lost 4 inches from my hips, 5.5 from my thighs and 2.4 inches from my waist line.

So I now weight 192 lbs (my height is 5ft10), and I plan to keep on losing weight until I reach my first goal which is 185lbs, then my second goal which is 170 lbs (which would mean that I reached a normal bmi) and my long term goal is 154 lbs but I'll still need some time to get there so I'm focusing on goal 1 & 2 for now, I'm so motivated and I feel like I won't give up this time.

Thank you for reading all of this and sorry about my weird english it's my 3rd language and I'm constantly trying to improve it.

TLDR: I'm a 20 year old girl, 5ft10 and 192 lbs, I have already lost some weight during quarantine and I want to lose more, I don't think I'm gonna give up like I did before.

So I am 15 years old I am starting my freshman year of highschool on Sep 8 and I really feel discouraged because I used to be skinny and now i gained a lot of weight I am about 5’9 190 pounds and everyone knows me as a skinny kid, I’m doing football right now and trying to eat no processed carbs and eating 1-2 times a day with a lot of water and I just dont know how much longer I can go until I reach my goal weight 150 lbs I know im only 15 blah blah blah but its a serious issue for me and I’m pretty lost about what to do, Ive already gotten a few comments about my weight gain and I feel like I cant wear clothes anymore because i look so horrible in them, if you guys have any encouragement please share because I’m kinda at a low right now.

how am I supposed to know how many calories I need in a day?

So I am 5 foot 11 inches roughly 210-215 pounds 19 years old (male),Im active as I lift weight train Mixed martial arts (1 hour each) and threw in 30 minutes on the stationary bike recently and going to do that daily. I have used calculators online to see how many calories I need but it doesnt seem very realistic to be honest,I was eating around 2200-2500 calories but I didnt really lose weight,it could of been because sunday I put some water weight on (diverted from my plan had a few drinks and dessert) yesterday I ate around 1700 calories but it doesnt seem realistic, even when I drop down to 190 Im still very unsure how much I should eat,a buddy of mine is around my height but is around 140 pounds and he eats 2800 calories a day. mixed martial arts burns roughly 500-700 calories per hour, weight lifting burns about 300-400 calories per hour and biking 350-400 calories per 30 minutes so even on the low end im burning about 1100 calories a day aside from my bmr. could I have some sort of metabolic disorder? Im considering seeing a doctor because its worry some.update I woke up this morning down a couple of pounds 213.4 again not sure if its because I ate less last night or just lost some water weight from sunday.
