Rant about weight loss and mental health

This is just a rant, but if anyone has some helpful advice I'll take it. I've been struggling with weight loss for a while now and it's been extra difficult because of some chronic health issues. My rant though is that all of the motivation that I find online always seems so PUNITIVE! All I want is to find some support and motivation that isn't along the lines of "what do you like more, food, or being able to see your hip bones in a bathing suit"? There is a tone of stuff online about body positivity but none of it has the message that I can love my body while still wanting to get healthier. It's like it has to be one or the other. Either my body is perfect and it doesn't need to change, or it's a "motivation" designed to get me to exercise by feeling ashamed of myself. And every time I google healthy weight loss at this point I just get ads for noom 😒. Maybe I'm looking in the wrong spots, and I'm not saying I've seen this attitude on this sub, but it's definitely out there. And I would go so far as to say it's the dominant result when looking online for motivation.

Rant over, thanks friends.

Being super full leads makes me binge eat??

This might sound really weird but maybe someone can relate. So I have found that when I become overly full, it makes me start binge eating! its like the only time I will start binging Is when Im really full, not when Im starving or even hungry. But if I get to the point where im satisfied and im just "regular" full, im totally ok. Now I think this is because obviously binging creates the feeling of being overly full. So, I associate being overly full with binging. Therefore, if I become overly full, I binge eat! Guess its just such a bad habit I've created. Not sure if that makes sense. So basically if I avoid becoming overly full I am fine. Anyone else feel this way?

Many Questions about becoming lean! Major help advice needed!! Please help members of r/loseit!

Hello everyone!

I am a 6’3 male 17 year old and in The beginning of January 2020 I weighed 257.5 pounds. I was never obese but was chubby and had felt pretty overweight. I didn’t feel good about my body but was never truly motivated to start a plan of action.

In the middle of January I contracted the flu and lost about 10 ish pounds because of being so sick and that really opened my mind about losing weight and becoming lean (really weird ik😂).

Around the end of January I was around 245 pounds. Today on April 1st I weight 224.8 pounds. I have lost about 2.4-2.8 pounds each week.

I feel a slight physical difference but my parents and friends have said they said I look leaner but I’m not quite sure. As for my appearance, I’ve gained some noticeable muscle in my arms, thighs, calves, and lower chest that has replaced fat. My stomach feels not as bloated as before but still there and in other areas that I’ll get to.

This has been my method to losing weight so far for the last month and I just want to make sure I’m on the right path to where I want to be:

I intermittent fast everyday and only eat between 10 AM and 2:30-3 PMish. I usually eat around 1800-2500 calories a day and feel full. For breakfast, I have 2 eggs, 2 pieces of toast, and bacon (on some days). For lunch, it truly is random but it is usually some type of meat ( homemade cheeseburger, chicken breast, tacos, etc) and a side. I haven’t been eating too many fruits and vegetables which I think I need to improve on.

Secondly, I have ran/jogged 27 miles every week, usually between 3 and 5 miles a day.

Thirdly, I have worked out at home with barbells (that is all I have to work with bc of COVID-19). I have alternated between Arms, Legs, and Core/Chest days for this time period.

Now here is where I need help.

  1. What should I improve on/change in my exercising/diet plan to get to a point where I feel totally lean?

  2. How can I specifically improve to lose my love handles and double chin? I know you can not spot reduce but I was wondering what I should do to eventually shave them off.

  3. What should my target weight be? I’m not quite sure what goal weight I should get down to or even if I should have one and continue this until I look truly lean and muscular.

Confirmed addiction, advice needed

So, I’m a sugar addict. Specifically chocolate. People always laugh in a “that’s so silly/endearing” way when I tell them but I’m sure of it and it is a problem. It really got cemented to me when I told the dentist about some of the phases I’ve been through and honestly it was nice to 1, hear it from someone else and 2, the idea be taken seriously.

I’ve managed (somehow) to give up chocolate before and after a few weeks I buy one for the hell of it and can only handle a square at a time... usually what happens is for some reason I push myself to eat more even though I don’t need or maybe even want to. If food is “just there” then I want to eat it. Partly a boredom thing I think.

Last year was an all time high because I lived in a city and walked everywhere and it was the same price to buy bigger bars? I’ve moved to a town now and am doing better.

Now in this lockdown half the days I think “I’ll buy nothing” and the other half I buy in bulk because it takes a long time to walk to the shops and because of my habit.

1, how do I kick the habit? 2, do you think it’s possible to (when I have kicked the habit) occasionally have a treat? I don’t ever wanna completely cut things out

Tonight my bf looked at my half naked body and then turned the lights off

I hope this isn’t too awkward of a topic but I’m feeling so down lately. I’m 23 and am graduating from college this semester. I met my bf at college and he graduated last semester. When I met him, I was 140 lbs and felt very confident in myself. Everything changed last summer when I had a pulmonary embolism from my birth control. It was so traumatic and made me extremely depressed. Subsequently, I gained 60 lbs. it doesn’t look insane on my 5’6 frame but it does look pretty bad. My boyfriend is extremely fit and attractive. We’ve been through a lot together after my hospitalization and he’s never once said anything to me to make me feel bad about myself but when looking through old pictures of us, he goes “Wow, I forgot you used to look like that. Don’t you want to look that good again, babe?” Of course I do and I hate looking at my chubby round face, huge stomach, flabby arms and back rolls. I have huge boobs and a giant butt now but I’m disgusted by them. My boyfriend tells me I’m beautiful all the time and how attracted he is to me but I just feel like a giant squishy blob.

I was doing intermittent fasting/keto recently and lost 20 pounds but then COVID-19 happened and so many things changed. My graduation was canceled, nursing school put on hold, I was laid off, etc. it all sent me spiraling back to right where I was. To top it off, the very little sex drive I have now because of how much I don’t want to show my ugly naked body to him was further diminished by my boyfriend turning the lamp off and losing his, well, you know “attraction” to me in the middle of the act tonight.

This has NEVER happened before. Honestly, I’m so depressed with how I look and feel but I can’t seem to stop stuffing my face with chocolate and snacks. I know exactly what I should be eating and that I should be exercising but I can’t. I cant motivate myself anymore. I just always mess it up for myself. I tell myself not to eat an entire bar of chocolate because I’ll feel bad afterwards and I still do it knowing that. I just don’t know what to do anymore. I guess this is kind of a vent and I’m looking for advice. How do I stop feeling sorry for myself and just get my shit together?

So I just ate 2 Carls Jr/Hardys Hamburgers and man...

I feel great. Not like in a "I'm totally ready to go workout" kind of great, but a "Holy shit I used to eat like THIS, 3 times a day only 70 days ago???!!"

So I began a lifestyle change on the 02/20/20 this year. I weighed 370 lbs and was so lazy and I hated it. Well, flash forward to today. I weighed in on Monday at 302 lbs and feel great. Anyways. The last 2 weeks or so have been more trying than others. Thankfully amid this Covid 19 virus I'm still working, but just in general, it's hard. The gym closed, just when I was really loving it, getting into a good routine, 2 hrs of gym a day, walking, etc.

I still get my exercise daily and walk and jog now as well as have purchased some weights and stuff. I've just felt off. This last month has been a ride of mini plateaus over and over. I hit a weight and stay there for 1 week then the next, I drop it all and 5 to 10 more, then I stay there. I've been at 305 for what seemed like forever until it said 302 the other morning.

I just went to Carls Jr and bought 2900 calories of food, and ate it all. I knew what I was doing as in, I knew I was being a fool. But after 70 days of really sticking to this diet of 1500 to 1800 calories a day, I just felt like I needed some kind of rebellion. It worked.

I feel like I did on Jan 19th this year. Incredibly motivated, and it's not the standard self motivation I've mustered over these last 2 months, it's the "Wtf am I doing" motivation that really kicks you.

Happy journeys everyone, heres to continued weight loss!

If I can manage 2 months in between a slip up than I think I'll be ok.

Also, I just had to buy some size 38 pants. I started this journey in a size 50 and those were too tight. I've gone from a 5xl to a 2x in shirt and can jog for 10 minutes straight now.

😀
