Should I go with weight loss surgery or is that cheating myself?

So I've been pretty heavy for about my whole life but in the most recent years (about 6) I broke 300 pounds. Currently I'm 22, 6'1, M, and weighing in at 331. I've been trying different weight loss methods that almost always seem to fail and I keep ending back up to square one. My Dad finally suggested stomach reduction surgery. I'm honestly scared to do it. Not just because they'd have to cut open my stomach but because I feel like I'd let myself down.

I'm currently in this depression loop of telling myself to try another dieting routine while another part of me in telling myself to go with the surgery option. I'm not asking for sympathy or anything, I'm mostly trying to ask what you guys would do in my shoes? Any feedback is very much so appreciated.

This is my year to lose 15 lbs

I looked at MyFitnessPal this morning to log my weight and realized I am the EXACT same weight I was last year. I am a 5'10" female and currently weigh 181. I have been "trying" to lose 15 lbs for about 5 years now. I put trying in quotes because I never really committed fully to it. It was more of a wish. But this is the year I do it. My focus is on portion size. I am not the type of person that can cut food groups out long term. I have a plan outlined in my bullet journal and I am going to stick to it. Because 15lbs shouldn't take me 5 years to lose. Here's to sticking to a resolution and making it a goal with a plan!

My BMI is good but I look so sloppy.... Any recommendations?

At my highest, 2 years ago, I was 148 lbs. My scale broke last year, and I made the decision to not buy another. However, I have slowly lost 20 pounds over the past several months without much change at all. I tried to limit carbs a bit, but didn't make any major changes to the type of food I eat. I guess I just ate less food due to fact that I started college.

Anyways, just bought a scale because I'm hoping to look better for summer and I am 128.4.

I was actually shocked at my weight. I was expecting atleast 135-140.

At 5 foot 4, my BMI is 22. However, my body is not it. This actually make me sad, because I always thought that I'd look great if I were under 130, but I just don't.... I have a doughy fat stomach that sticks out, big boobs, and thunder thighs, with skinny legs, noodle arms, and not very much going on in the back. :)

So, I am an apple. :) I look like one of those walking/talking m&ms in the commericals.

People have commented that I look like I have lost weight, but I honestly just don't see it... I still have the same sloppy shape.

Now, I'm lost. I'm planning on trying to get down to 125, and then 120, but I don't even know if that will change it too much. What exercises would be best? Any recommendations?

Got the courage to weigh myself!

So I've been bad these past 3 months...

Due to some lifestyle changes, I've been drinking more, I haven't been to the gym in months, I've not been fasting intermittently, and I've been eating a whole lot, including lots of home baked goods (you know, when you make a cake to share with friends but then you eat 2/3rds of it yourself?). So I've been afraid of weighing myself... I've been noticing the flab, and my clothes being less loose than before, so it's just been very scary. I've been walking less (still quite a bit) and feel a bit more pressure in my knees.

But today I did it! And I've not put on that much weight. My bfr has increased by about 2%, but my weight only went up 2kg over 4 months, which is pretty good if you ask me! I still had a net loss of 10kg last year and my bfr has decreased considerably overall.

So now I'm feeling a lot better, and maybe I'll go back to trying a bit harder... But I feel like it's not such a hurdle anymore. I think I'd managed to get to a healthy enough lifestyle that even overindulging was a lot less than my 'regular meals' used to be.

My resolution for this year is to trim down 6kg, keep meeting my goal of 10k steps/day (I successfully met it over 2/3rds of the year), and no junk food (my own home baking is okay, it makes me happy!). It's such a realistic goal, I'm quite ecstatic. I used to aim for 10+ and some 'new' habits, so realising I have some pretty decent and attainable goals is a good start :)

Happy new year everyone, we can do this.

This is what sticking to your New Years Resolution looks like

https://i.imgur.com/lmwTQzy.png (It's actually supposed to be 327 SW with 66lbs lost total, but because it rolled over a year, its showing what my SW was one week in.)

Like many people I had a new years resolution last year to lose weight. I've tried before and this time I actually stuck with it and continued. I always kept checking this 1 year progress screen in MFP because I could see where I started and how far along I've come, but it was never quite accurate. That is until now. I'm 1 year in doing CICO and have lost 66lbs total. These last few weeks have been a rollercoaster, going from 267, to 264, to 268, to 267, again to 264, back to 267, and despite this last week being Christmas and tons of sweets in the house, I lost 6lbs this wee (which is insane to me) to bring my year total to 66lbs lost. I'm nowhere near done, as my ultimate goal is 190 (6'1" male), and I'm just under halfway to go, but it's kinda nice to see the progress I've gotten so far.
